A Brief Description
Killingly High School is located in the heart of Northeastern Connecticut, also known as “The Quiet Corner”. The Town of Killingly is the largest town in the region, with a population of approximately 18,000 residents. The town and its subdivisions of Danielson and Dayville, much of which encompasses rural and semi-rural settings, straddles the I-395 corridor, and lies approximately equidistant from the major New England cities of Providence, RI, Hartford, CT, and Worcester, MA. It is also within an hour and a half driving distance from Boston, MA. Dayville and Danielson in particular are hubs of activity hosting a mix of local and commercial businesses, administrative entities, and residential areas.
Killingly High School, located on a hill to the northeast side of town, serves the Town of Killingly, as well as several other surrounding communities, providing a four-year, comprehensive secondary school fully accredited through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE). KHS offers a variety of Advanced Placement (AP), UConn ECE honors, college preparatory, and general education courses. All offerings are leveled, with the degree of difficulty and amount of preparation identified for each course. Level I: UConn ECE/Advanced Placement • Level II: Honors Level III: College Preparatory • Level IV: General Preparation. Killingly High School is also site of the Agricultural Education Center (sometimes referred to as "Killingly Vo-Ag"), offering the region's premier Agricultural Education program to area students.
